Music Mentors are Carlmont students who volunteer to help beginning instrumental musicians in the elementary schools. Music Mentors meet with elementary students once a week to listen to them play, reinforce practice techniques, and help improve their play. Carlmont students support the instruction given by Belmont / Redwood Shores music professionals. Brass, woodwinds, strings, and percussion are included.
Transportation (parent driven) will be provided between Carlmont and the Elementary School(s) at which you Mentor. Adult supervision will be present at all times. Training will be provided by Carlmont and Belmont / Redwood Shores music professionals before Mentoring begins. The music directors will arrange a training schedule that works best for the Music Mentor volunteers.
Participants and their parents must fill out and sign several forms. Please be aware that a healthy (negative) TB Test within the past 4 years must be provided to BRSSD, if you have not provided one in a previous year.
