All students involved in the Carlmont Instrumental Music Program study excellent repertoire, enjoy performing throughout the year, and have opportunities to travel and participate in social events. Ensemble placement is based on ability. Students will be placed where they will experience the most success. All ensembles are high caliber and need high-level students to serve as musical leaders within them.
Students are not required to audition to enroll in Carlmont Instrumental Music. Placement in advanced ensembles (Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble) is by audition only. String players who do not audition will be placed in String Orchestra. Winds and percussion who do not audition will be placed in Concert Band.
