John DaBaldo was a public school music teacher in the Belmont, Redwood Shores and San Carlos communities for over 30 years before coming to Carlmont High School in 2007.
He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he developed a love of music at an early age. He played trumpet in his school concert, jazz and marching bands and played violin in the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. DaBaldo majored in music education at West Virginia University. He received both a Bachelors and Masters degree at WVU and played professionally in several orchestras while at school, including the West Virginia Symphonette, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra. Some of the highlights of those years were his opportunities to play on stage with music legends Ray Charles and Ella Fitzgerald.
Mr. DaBaldo retired at the end of the 2020 school year. While he and his wife Diana are enjoying retirement, his Carlmont legacy lives on in our hearts and minds.
