Is Music the Key to Success?
October 26th, 2013

Did you see the OpEd in the New York Times last week? In a nutshell the author opines that "Music ... helps train you to think differently, to process different points of view - and most important, to take pleasure in listening." The author takes us beyond the routine analogy of music to math, claiming music teaches how to get along in groups, rely upon your teammates, take turns stepping out for a solo, and presentation skills.

Welcome Back to all returning Instrumental Music families!
August 8th, 2013
I hope the summer has been enjoyable for your family. Carlmont Music Boosters (CMB) looks forward to another successful year of "playing" and working together in support of the Instrumental Music program at Carlmont.

This year, in response to our proposal last spring for additional funding based on enrollment projections, the District added an extra section to Mr. Smart's schedule, bringing the total IM offerings to 8 sections of instruction for 317 students in 5 different ensembles. We thank the District for its forward thinking, and the Foundation for its continued support. We especially thank you, IM supporters throughout the community, for your generous donations to CMB and CAF, which helped make this possible.
